Training and Service Development: SMHS believes passionately in sharing knowledge and expertise and delivering training within the NHS and the wider health sector. Several SMHS clinicians are accredited trainers for delivering the RCGP certificates in Alcohol, Substance Misuse Management (parts 1 and 2), and Blood Borne Viruses, and we deliver these and other training modules to primary care, specialist services, and other agencies and interested parties.
SMHS Executive Clinical Director, Dr Susanna Lawrence, has been involved in training, service change and policy development, locally and nationally. She was awarded the OBE in 1999 for services to patient care, citing her work in developing substance misuse services.
Several of our clinicians continue to have national or regional roles in shaping services.
SMHS has developed innovative community based hepatitis C treatment services in Leeds, working in partnership with the LTHT and HMP Leeds to help make treatment more accessible and treatment completion more likely.
The Treatment Perceptions Questionnaire (TPQ) was developed at the National Addiction Centre to assess service user satisfaction with treatment. Below are links to previous TPQ reports completed within services that SMHS deliver alongside our partners.
